Email Addresses

People will invite you at whichever address they know: work, personal, or an old one. Linking them means an invitation to any of them reaches this account.

The page states the rule at the top: “Your discoverable email is what contacts use to find and invite you on Trusted Codes.”

Each address in the list carries up to three badges.

Login email is where your sign-in links go. Exactly one address holds that role and it is fixed once the account exists.

Discoverable is the address other people may use to find and invite you. One address holds that role, and it does not have to be the login email.

Private relay marks one of Apple’s hidden addresses. Nobody can find you at one, so an account that has only a relay address is invisible to everybody who wants to invite it.

Press Add email, type the address, and press Send verification code. We send a six-digit code to that address. Type it in and press Verify.

The code proves you can read the mailbox. Without that, anybody could claim any address and collect the invitations meant for its owner.

Disposable addresses are refused.

You can hold two addresses. Once the second one is there, Add email disappears, and it comes back when you remove one.

Set as discoverable appears on any verified address that does not already hold the role. Pressing it moves the role over.

The address that is already discoverable has no such control, and neither does an address that is not yet verified.

The bin icon removes an address and asks “Remove this email?” first.

The login email has no bin icon. You cannot remove the address you sign in with.

Removing an address does not change connections you already have. It only stops new invitations arriving at that address.
