Glossary
Trusted Codes uses one word for each idea: in the app, in the portals, on the website and in this help. This page lists those words.
Codeword
Section titled “Codeword”The three words that a connection shows at this moment. They change on a fixed schedule, and both people see the same words at the same time. You do one thing with them: you compare the codeword. One person says the words, the other checks them on their own screen.
Not to be confused with a password. You never type a codeword into a sign-in form, and it is worth nothing once it has changed. “Codeword” is written as one word.
A signature on a message or a file. With it, the recipient can check that the message came from you and that nobody changed it. To seal a document is to make that signature. Anyone can check a seal in a browser.
Not to be confused with a provider stamp. A seal is never called a “digital stamp”.
Provider stamp
Section titled “Provider stamp”A single-use code of three words that a provider makes on its own device and puts in an invoice or a quote. The customer enters the words on the verify site and sees whether the document really came from that provider.
Connection
Section titled “Connection”The shared link between you and another person, or a group of people. Each connection has its own codeword.
Not to be confused with “trusted contact”. The app does not use that term.
Contact
Section titled “Contact”A person inside a connection. One connection can hold several contacts, for example the members of a family.
People
Section titled “People”The screen in the app that lists your connections. “People” is only the name of that screen; what it lists are connections.
Context
Section titled “Context”The space you work in: your personal context, or the organisation context of an organisation that you belong to. Connections, codes and settings belong to one context. You switch the context in the app and in the portals.
Not to be confused with “side”. “Side” only means one party of a connection, as in “both sides compare the codeword”.
Guest code
Section titled “Guest code”A one-time code for a person who does not have the app, for example a courier or a technician who visits. The person checks it in a browser and needs no account.
Beacon
Section titled “Beacon”A code that the staff of an organisation switch on when they contact customers. The customer checks it on the verify site, free and without an account, to answer one question: is this really one of their staff?
Business plan
Section titled “Business plan”The paid plan for organisations. There is one Business plan, in sizes by the number of people. “Plan” is the general word for what an account or an organisation has.
Not to be confused with “Business plans” or “paid plans”: there is only one.
Business portal
Section titled “Business portal”The console of an organisation at business.trusted.codes. Administrators invite people, set roles and groups, and manage the plan there.
Not to be confused with “admin portal” or “organisation console”.
Free trial
Section titled “Free trial”The free period of the Business plan before the first charge. The price list and the payment page state its length and the day of the first charge.
Plan & billing
Section titled “Plan & billing”The one place where a trial is cancelled: the business portal, under Plan & billing. If you cancel there before the first charge, nothing is charged.
