Phone and desktop

The Concierge is the same in the phone app and in the desktop app. It understands the same sentences, does the same things, asks the same questions and refuses the same requests. A key you add on one device is yours on that device; each device holds its own.

The desktop app can do one thing the phone cannot. When your account includes it, the desktop app can let other AI programs on your computer — a chat program, a writing program, a program that runs tasks for you on a schedule — use the Concierge’s abilities. Such a program can then show a code, check three words or create a guest code as part of whatever else it is doing for you.

This is the better tool when the job is more than one request. A program that reads your calendar can tell you the words for a meeting at two o’clock. A program that runs for an hour can check codes one after another as they arrive. The Concierge in the app is for the sentence you say now; the desktop’s door for other programs is for work that goes on around it.

What such a program may do has the same limits the Concierge has. It cannot delete your account, and it sees no code that the Concierge would not show you. The MCP section describes how to connect a program and where the boundary sits.

What the Concierge keeps about each turn, and for how long, is on the page What the Concierge records.
