Understanding Trust Score
What the Score Actually Is
Section titled “What the Score Actually Is”A number from 0-100 that shows how established your account is in the Trusted Codes community.
When someone you don’t know invites you to connect, their score gives context. 85 from a two-year-old account is very different from 15 from an account made yesterday.
The score is a signal, not a verdict. Low scores don’t mean bad people — just new accounts.
What Goes Into It
Section titled “What Goes Into It”We keep the exact formula private to prevent gaming. But here’s what matters:
Account age — How long has this account existed?
Network strength — How many real connections?
Activity level — Do they actually use the app?
Community feedback — How have others rated interactions?
Invitation quality — Do the invitations they send get accepted?
Fraud detection — We check for suspicious patterns.
Every account starts from the same footing, and no earned factor outweighs the rest on its own. The score rewards genuine, ongoing use.
How to Read It
Section titled “How to Read It”80-100 (Excellent) — Established, active. Still use caution for sensitive requests.
60-79 (Strong) — Good standing with real activity.
40-59 (Growing) — Could be newer but building reputation. Consider a secondary verification for important connections.
20-39 (Building) — Limited history. A brand-new account normally sits here. For important stuff, verify through another channel.
0-19 (New) — Very limited history, or signals that argue for caution. A score this low is worth a second look.
What It Is NOT
Section titled “What It Is NOT”Not a guarantee — High score doesn’t prove someone is who they claim to be.
Not character judgment — It measures account activity, not personal morality.
Not foolproof — Someone could build an account over time before misusing it.
Not the whole story — Use it as one signal among many. Trust your gut too.
How to Improve Your Score
Section titled “How to Improve Your Score”Your score grows naturally with genuine use.
What helps: Use the app regularly. Verify connections when appropriate. Maintain connections over time. Be patient — account age matters.
What doesn’t help: Signing up several accounts. Sending invitations that nobody accepts. Using the app from a VPN, Tor or a datacenter address. Going inactive for months.
Best strategy: use the app the way it’s meant to be used.
Trust Score When Inviting You
Section titled “Trust Score When Inviting You”When you get an invitation, you see their score plus:
- Account age
- Risk indicators (VPN, new account, fraud signals, etc.)
Pay attention when: You don’t know the person, it’s high-stakes, or the request seems unusual.
Matters less when: You already know them, they’re a colleague, or it’s casual.
Think of it like online reviews — useful context, but not the whole picture.
